Kanaya is a post station in what is now Naka Ward, Hamamatsu City, Shizuoka Prefecture. The Oigawa is a large river that represents Shizuoka Prefecture, and from the far bank you can enjoy the flow of the Oigawa and the surrounding nature.

日坂は静岡県浜松市の宿場です。佐夜ノ中山は、日坂宿の近くにある山の名前です。この作品では日坂の坂道の険しさや自然の美しさが描かれています。

“Saya no Nakayama”
Nissaka is a post station in Hamamatsu City, Shizuoka Prefecture. Sayanonakayama is the name of a mountain near Nissaka-shuku. This work depicts the ruggedness of the slopes of Nissaka and the beauty of nature.

「秋葉山遠望」静岡県掛川市
静岡県掛川市の宿場です。遠景に見える山が秋葉山、手前が二瀬川に架かる大池橋です。上空に凧が描かれていて、ひとつは画角からはみ出し、ひとつは糸が切れて風に流されています。

“Distant view of Mt. Akiba”
This is a post station in Kakegawa City, Shizuoka Prefecture. The mountain visible in the distance is Mt. Akiba, and in the foreground is Oike Bridge spanning the Futase River. Kites are depicted in the sky, one sticking out of the angle of view, and one with its string broken and being blown away by the wind.

「出茶屋ノ図」静岡県袋井市
現在の静岡県袋井市にあたる宿場です。江戸時代の東海道では、旅人が長い道のりを移動する際に休憩するための茶屋がいくつもありました。作品では旅人が休憩や茶を楽しむ様子が描かれています。

“A view of the teahouse opening”
It is a post station in present-day Fukuroi City, Shizuoka Prefecture. On the Tokaido road during the Edo period, there were many teahouses where travelers could take a break during long journeys. The work depicts travelers taking a break and enjoying tea.
