This is a post station in Toyokawa City, Aichi Prefecture. Ryosha shobu are women who work at lodgings and teahouses in post towns. This work depicts the interior of an inn. Inns during the Edo period were bustling with travelers, serving meals and offering massages.

「棒鼻ノ図」
棒鼻とは棒端ともいい、宿場の境界に立てられていた道標です。御弊をたてた駒と一緒に御馬献進の一行と、座して頭を下げる地方役人や旅人たちの様子を描いています。それらを手前に、自然豊かな藤川の雄大な風景も大きく描かれています。

Bohana, is a signpost that was erected at the border of a post station. The painting depicts the horse-offering party along with the pieces that caused the mischief, as well as local officials and travelers sitting and bowing their heads. In the foreground, the magnificent scenery of Fujikawa, rich in nature, is also depicted.

This is a post station located in Okazaki City, Aichi Prefecture. Yahagi Bridge is said to be the longest bridge on the Tokaido. The Daimyo procession is lined up on the bridge, and you can clearly see the size and length of the bridge. Okazaki is the birthplace of Tokugawa Ieyasu.
