【下目黒】
かつては鷹狩場としても知られた、江戸郊外の目黒の風景です。画面手前には、重なり合う段々畑と、そこで働く農夫たちののどかな日常が描かれています。特徴的なのは、うねるような丘の稜線が作り出す独特のリズム感です。その起伏の合間から、遠く雪を頂いた富士山が顔を覗かせます。北斎は、複雑な地形を幾何学的に整理し、農村の平和な空気感と富士の気高さを一枚に融合させました。

This tile depicts the rural landscape of Meguro, an area famous for falconry during the Edo period.
