【品川 諸侯出立】
江戸・日本橋を出て最初の宿場であり、西国へ向かう旅路の玄関口である品川。描かれているのは、夜明けとともに宿場を出発する大名行列の最後尾です。画面右側には品川の家並みが続き、左側には静かな品川沖の海に帆船が浮かびます。旅の始まりの緊張感と、江戸近郊の穏やかな朝の光景が見事に調和した名作です。

As the first station from Edo, Shinagawa was the gateway to the western provinces. This tile depicts the rear of a daimyo’s majestic procession departing at dawn. With the post town's buildings on the right and the serene waters of Shinagawa Bay on the left, it perfectly captures the solemnity of the departure and the tranquil beauty of the early morning sea.
