駿河国（静岡県）の宿場、沼津。黄昏時の静寂の中、狩野川沿いの道を宿場へ向かう旅人たちが描かれています。大きな天狗の面を背負い金比羅参りへ向かう一行と、空に昇った満月。広重が得意とする「静かな夜の情緒」が画面全体に漂い、長い旅路の疲れを癒やすような優しさに満ちた一枚です。
