【見附 天竜川図】
遠江国（静岡県）の宿場、見附。暴れ川として知られた天竜川を船で渡る様子が描かれています。画面を覆う中州の霧が奥行きを感じさせ、対岸へと漕ぎ出す船頭たちの力強い動きが印象的です。自然の厳しさと、それを乗り越えて進む旅の躍動感を切り取った一枚です。

[Mitsuke Tenryugawa]
Mitsuke was a station located near the powerful Tenryu River. This tile depicts the crossing of the river's fast-moving waters by ferry. The misty atmosphere over the sandbars and the energetic movement of the boatmen capture the dramatic and adventurous spirit of travel during the Edo period.
